ANDY MURRAY

MURRAY

Wimbledon looks like the Brit's best chance.

Even though Marin Cilic is a pretty good player on the men's ATP tour when Murray lost to him, Cilic, earlier this month at the US Open that had to lower his, Murray's, value in the futures market for sports betting.

In fact Murray doesn't exactly have a great report card for 2009 in terms of Grand Slam results and that has to force you wonder if he is ever going to win a Slam.

At the US Open, as mentioned, he fell to Marin Cilic, a player who has a bright future but is uncrowned at the moment. At Wimbledon Andy Murray fell in the semis to Andy Roddick, a player that Murray has normally handled well in head to head play. At the French Open the draw to the final opened up for Murray when Rafael Nadal fell but then Murray lost to Fernando Gonzalez in the quarters, a player that is a peripheral Grand Slam threat at best. Back at the Australian Open Murray fell in the round of 16 to Fernando Verdasco, who has never even made a Grand Slam final and only one semifinal.

While all four of the players that beat Murray in Grand Slam play this year are excellent players on the tour, Murray failed to demonstrate that he was a cut above them on the biggest stages in tennis.

Now bet365 is offering a tennis betting special where you can try to pick the exact number of Slams that a top five player will win in 2010. With Murray having never won a Slam and with a new force on the scene in Juan Martin Del Potro, you have to think that the room at the top just got a whole lot tighter and someone has to slip.
